This Week June 6th – June 10th
**NOTE FROM RCMP LIASON**
Over the last month we are seeing an increase of bicyle thefts; no matter the size or the description; bikes are being stolen from businesses, parking areas, parks and side streets. Stolen bikes are generally not recovered and are used for a means of transportation for other criminal activity. The resale of stolen bikes, through means such as Craigslist, is very common.

Message from The Community Liaison Officer at Metro Vancouver Regional District:
To meet the growing demand for drinking water, Metro Vancouver needs to construct a new, above-ground reservoir at 20400 – 73A Avenue in Langley, in the same location as the existing Jericho Hill water tank. This project will also include new infrastructure such as a valve chamber and associated pipes to connect the reservoir to our water mains. We are currently in the process of designing the new reservoir with construction anticipated to begin in late 2017/early 2018.
In addition to the reservoir and its associated infrastructure, the Township of Langley is looking to construct a park with recreational facilities on the roof of the new reservoir. The park, Smith View Park, is part of the Township’s Smith Neighbourhood Plan. Both Metro Vancouver and the Township of Langley are looking for input on the reservoir’s architectural features and plans for Smith View Park during the detailed design phase of the project. On May 19, 2016, Metro Vancouver will be hosting an open house for the Jericho Reservoir project at Willoughby Elementary School from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

As you have probably heard, the BCTF released next week’s schedule for the rotating strike days. Just our luck, the Langley District’s strike day just happens to fall on June 13th, the previously planned Sports Day. Currently we are waiting to hear whether they will be rescheduling the activities. I imagine Ms Jaggi will send out an email and as well, we will post here and on Facebook as soon as we have news!
